I only get a BLACK SCREEN

I just installed ArcGIS Earth on a Windows 7 machine with 20GB ram. After waiting for at least 15 minutes, all I get is a black screen. When I load shapefiles from either my ArcGIS online or from my hard drive, they don't show up either, just a black screen.

How do I get ArcGIS Earth to work? This black screen is very frustrating.

I have no problem using other "earth" programs.

Yes, mine is behaving the same way, I can see the coordinates zoom in to where my data is but nothing is visible.

So the one solution didn't work for you then. The Earth team will probably want to know more details if you can provide your operating environment and settings.

My computer is a Dell Precision 590, Two Intel Xeon 5130 2 GHz processors (4 processors in all). 20 GB RAM running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Using an NVIDIA Quadro FX 3500 Video card. I am connected to a local domain.

I'm not sure what settings are needed.

Are you using a proxy?  Also, we are finding that some users are running into network throttling limits on their WAN. Do you have any issues running web scenes?

Thanks,
Chris

According to our IT department, "No proxy and your network traffic never touches the WAN".

Thanks,

I think the problem may be my video card. Here are some specs I found.

Graphics Engine NVIDIA Quadro FX 3500

RAMDAC 400 Hz

Max Monitors Supported 2

Interfaces 2 x DVI-I (dual link) - 29 pin combined DVI

1 x 3D glasses - 3 pin mini-DIN

2 x VGA - 15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15) ( with adapter )

API Supported DirectX 9.0, OpenGL 2.0

ManufacturerHP

MEMORY

Size 256 MB

Technology GDDR3 SDRAM

Effective Clock Speed 700 Hz

Bus Width 256-bit

VIDEO

Video Output graphics adapter

Graphics Processor NVIDIA Quadro FX 3500

Type none

VIDEO OUTPUT

Supported Display Graphics 1920x1200, 3840x2400, QXGA (2048x1536)

Digital Video Standard Digital Visual Interface (DVI)

It may also be my processor(s). I have 2 dual core Xeon processors at 2.00 GHZ each. I noticed that the minimum requirement  for processor speed is 2.2 GHZ.

I installed the program on a newer computer in our office and it worked just fine, so it's not network related.

From what you write, your graphics card won't work.  We absolutely require DirectX 11 support and use (not just compatibility, which is why VMWARE doesn't work in many cases).
