LAS spatial filtering using a multipatch

Is it possible to spatially filter a LAS file using a 3d object?

I have created a multipatch area of interest and want to be able to do some 3d spatial analysis with it.  Assigning different categories to the LAS point cloud based on what part of the multipatch it sits in.

I did some tests using the Inside 3d tool and 3d point data which worked, but now want to do the same analysis with the LAS data.  Is this possible in Arc (or any other software for that matter)?
