Our utility with 8,000 plus meters is looking to implement an automated meter reading system by installing a meter transmitting unit on every meter pit. Our service area is spread across 17 counties in 2 states. We did a trial run with about 100 meters and are running into issues with keeping paperwork straight and the amount of time dedicated to installing these units.
Does anyone have any tips/guidance on a smoother transition? How do you keep paperwork straight? Did you contract the installations out? What problems did you run into that I should expect?
