Hi everyone!

I am currently doing some calculations involving volume and surface of water in a river valley, using a raster DEM dataset. I was thinking about using Surface Volume (3D Analyst) tool, but encountered a problem.

According to the tool help, it's possible to obtain results for multiple runs of the tool in a single .txt file. Quoting the help:

"If the same output file is specified in multiple runs of the tool, the pre-existing records are maintained and the results are appended to the table."

However, when trying to select an existing .txt (containing results from a previous calculation), I get an "Error 000725 Output Text File: Dataset [...] already exists".

Thus the question is - does this actually work the way it's described in the help, or am I doing something wrong here?

Using ArcMap 10.4.1.5686 Advanced

Thanks in advance for any help.
