I'm about to draw up water valves drawn in Autocad / Civil 3D, the valves need to be imported into ArcMap so that each valve contains attribute data (example 123). The valves aren't actually drawn up in CAD yet as I'm unsure how this needs to be done in order to work with Arcmap. I'm wondering do I just draw blocks in CAD w/ attribute data, will this transfer to ArcMap? s. Also, I have about 500 valves I need to generate. This needs to be generated in Civil3D first for certain reasons for our office, and then Arcmap as final product. Thanks guys!

There's a couple of ways to do this.  You are right, blocks with attributes will work.  The blocks will be point features with the associated block attributes seen as fields.

Another alternative is to use the ArcGIS for AutoCAD plug in.  It allows AutoCAD (or Civil 3d) users to add GIS attributes.
