You will have to enter the code in both places -- the PC and the mobile device. I've had the same problem you are describing when I copy/paste the code into the ArcPad input box instead of actually typing it in. I've found when I type it in, it works.
I would agree with Michele's suggestions, but if you are still encountering the same issue you can always log a webform through our Support site.
