cannot use 'n' to select topology node

I am trying to edit topology nodes: I have a polygon and line feature class that have topology rules built in ArcCatalog: the lines Must be covered by boundary of the polygons, and the poly Boundaries must be covered by lines in the line feature class.

I used to be able to select and move individual topology nodes using the Topology Edit Tool by holding down the keyboard 'n' key and drawing a little box. Now - when I do that , I cannot select just the node - instead I get both line features surrounding the node selected as a topological selection.

I recently upgraded to v10.1, is there some setting I'm missing? Why can't I use the 'n' key anymore to select topology nodes?
Thanks
Jean

Same problem here. Just upgraded to 10.1 and the shortcut key "N" does not work anymore.

I used it to select multiple nodes to move that part of the object. The functionality to move multiple nodes at once results in an error. In the previous version, ArcGis 10.0, it worked just fine.

Hope you get an answer soon

This is a bug that's been logged with Esri Support Services - "NIM085803 Topology tool does not select nodes using the "n" key in ArcMap 10.1 like the previous version."  Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick respond.
I've search in Esri Support bugs for the NIM085803 issue but there is no entry to be found.

Honestly, we removed this shortcut intentionally. We changed how topology selection works and enhanced moving and reshaping edges in ArcGIS 10.1, so we wanted to emphasize selecting edges over selecting nodes. For example, detaching and reconnecting edges (sometimes referred to as a "split-move") is much simpler in ArcGIS 10.1, as you now select only the edge and not both the node and the edge. We also added a new tool to select connected edges. You can still select a node by clicking it, though.

The shortcuts available with the Topology Edit tool are listed here:
http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/#/Keyboard_shortcuts_that_can_be_used_while_editing/01...

More on what's new for editing in 10.1:

That said, so we can understand your workflow, what are you trying to do when you want to select the nodes alone with N?

I used the "n" to move shared intersections on roads and trails.  What's the easiest way to do that now?

I figured it out.  No need to respond.
