Buffering a single feature in a multi-feature, feature class.

I am wondering if there is a way to buffer a single feature in a feature class that has multiple features, without having to select that specific feature and export it everytime.

Apparently the old buffer wizard is still available although hidden in the background, this has the option of only using selected features:

I have just checked and the buffer tool in the proximity toolbox does also honor selected features.
