The alphabetical possibility is a good thing to know. I was curious on about the ability to move a layer or two to the top of the layer list but not affect the display order in the web map? The layer list widget once added to the application allows for you to move up and down layers, but doesn't allow you to save those moved changes prior to launching, but even if it did, I think that would affect the display order as that is what the move up and move down commands do in the launched web application This was possible in the prior Flex-based applications of years ago.

I am looking for some guidance on whether or not a service layer's Request URL can be made unviewable (from browser developer tools) along with some other related things. Coming from a non-IT perspective, I have certainly read a lot about proxies, reverse proxies, tokens, etc regarding locking down a layer specific to an application. Granted, I still haven't done that in testing although I played around a bit with WAB dev and the ESRI resource proxy. I did not have any luck through testing and with help from some various other discussion posts on GeoNet (total newb so understandable). I dont need that implemented now, but rather in the future most likely. My understanding is that locking a service down is possible, but I assume the request URL will always be there whether its the typical service type link or a proxied address of which could still be used to connect to confidential data? Or does it not matter if a person had that address, if you somehow locked down that service for use only in the designated application? Therefore, even if they had it, it couldn't be used unless mined within that application? Although I think this service would also have to be in the web map (for the app) as well to be used unless making use of the custom LocalLayer widget that doesn't require a web map. Is it a matter of proxies, generating tokens and applying them somehow to a service url through the Server Manager? Something else? This is all challenging terminology to grasp, but would like to gain a better understanding. Thank you. 😃

I also have this same question with using the ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder CLI for AWS. How exactly am I to get a Certification when I can't even get it from the EC2 server I am attempting to launch because the recommended ESRI Enterprise deployment utility requires the cert and password before launch? IT has mentioned the actual server is where the CSR is generated. There does not appear to be any guidance with this process. Maybe I am missing something obvious, but would appreciate assistance. Not sure if that response with OpenSSL was of help. Thank you.

I am running WAB Dev. Ed locally at the moment. I never had the issue before, but all of a sudden I am currently running into an issue with a connected map REST service. The map service loads fine into the layerlist and sometimes I can see the attributes and sometimes I cannot, but if I check the console, I get: LayerListView.js?wab_dv=2.8:584 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'ctrlKey' of undefined at Object._onRowTrClick (LayerListView.js?wab_dv=2.8:584) at init.js:63 at this location is the code that I never altered (bold line is where error occurs): _onRowTrClick: function(layerInfo, imageShowLegendDiv, layerTrNode, subNode, evt) { this._changeSelectedLayerRow(layerTrNode); var fold = this._foldSwitch(layerInfo, imageShowLegendDiv, subNode); if(evt.ctrlKey || evt.metaKey) { if(layerInfo.isRootLayer()) { this.foldOrUnfoldAllRootLayers(fold); } else { this.foldOrUnfoldSameLevelLayers(layerInfo, fold); } } If I click a layer on the application shows the loading symbol for a while and then a 500 (Internal Server Error) and a warning of a Cross-Origin Read Blocking (CORB) blocked cross-origin response. The server is actually up and running though Quite certain I never altered anything and it was working before sometime last week, so I am not sure if something changed automatically? Thanks.

Suddenly the majority of my applications have failed to display any operational layers upon loading the Web App Builder application. It was just big white side bar upon load. Therefore, I had to go in and edit it to remove the layer list widget and then add it back. Save and it's good to go. Unfortunately, it now has a group layer issue (multiple drop downs) when there is only a single layer and that is not needed. The web map the app is based on literally has one layer with no dropdowns, so I am not sure why the multiple drop downs in the app. Example: ArcGIS Web Application - everyone of these layers (except last) is a SINGLE layer, not a group layer. Why am I getting drop downs? Why is this happening? Thank you.

In tools such as Dissolve and Add/Delete Field, the regular drop down box has the fields by table order as they were initially created. The Add Many dropdown box has them alphabetized by default. If we would could switch between alphabetized and table order that would be fantastic! Or the default order only. Maybe another box next to the toggle all checkboxes button? If this could apply to any other tool as well with field selections too that would be helpful. Thanks.

When I click on an attribute value in one table (ctrl c), then paste it (ctrl v) in the Calculate Field tool area for another calculation, it always add an extra line or extra space in the box. The cursor gets placed on the second line. This is very annoying having to hit backspace all the time when calculating string values.

So disabling the selection/removing highlight is only possible in the developer environment as far as I have noticed. This is still correct right? I notice the Information Lookup template has it disabled, but I was attempting to do it in the web app builder on arcgis.com without any luck. Guessing still need to set up a development/hosting environment off of arcgis online then.

I have saved a duplicate copy of a web app builder web application before and still can, but not for one specific application. For this application I am just getting an error upon clicking Save As where the error message will say "... is already available in your content. Please choose a different title." I can type in whatever title imaginable and I still get the same error. What would be the reasoning for this? Thanks.

I am attempting to add features to the story map cascade with an ArcGIS Server map image link (Operations allowed->Map box checked only). As I need to limit viewing of features to certain scales when made public. However, the template is giving me Health Report errors when I add the map to the app and I get no information there. I am not sure if it because it being recognized as a group layer or what? I am adding it by a mapserver link as individual layers are not working. Is there a way to get this working or is it a limitation of the Cascade beta? EDIT: Ok so it is recognizing the group layer after creating a new App template instead of the existing one I was using. Not sure why. All the layers are together though. Now if I could only grab the individual layers MapServer/0 /1 /2, but it just says cannot be added to the map. Thanks.

So I guess I would have to maybe use this tool in the script after the join, but before exporting to make the alias the actual field name across all the fields I am using? Actually maybe after exporting since joins are temporary. I don't think Alter Field would work (be efficient) after script execution because of the multitudes of files. Well clear field alias wouldn't help since the alias name is the name I actually want.

I have a Python script that examines a super large table (CSV imported into a gdb as a table), queries this table based on a distinct field name value with its attributes, does a join based on a common field, and then export the features to a geodatabase feature classes. The features classes could be in the hundreds. The problem is when I go in manually and want to merge the outputted feature classes in the geodatabase, the merge table (in the Merge geoprocessing function) is literally every single field in all the outputted feature classes. It turns out all the aliases are the same across all attribute tables, but the field names are different based on the join. For example, I want the field name as Name, but the field name is actually DistinctFile1_Name with the alias Name. The next file is actually DistinctFile2_Name with the alias Name and so forth and so forth. So it is basically impossible to work with any attribute data in the files. Any guidance? Thanks.

The cloud doesn't even work either for me though in terms of the basemap layers. Edit: Actually it appears to have been due to Kaspersky. I got 1.3 and it is now functional.

On Windows 10, ArcGIS Pro 1.2. It attempts to check for software update for like 15 minutes and then says unable to connect to update server. I am logged into organizational account. Also none of the Basemap layers load at all. It used to work. Only thing I can think of is that maybe Windows 10 and some security stuff is screwing it up? Thanks for the assistance.

Seeking some guidance related to search cursor's where clause. Currently, I am grabbing unique field values from a single column using the unique_values function on the field Name. I am attempting to export tables by unique Name values, passing the fields I want to it along with the rows associated with that unique name. So if there is three exported tables, there will be three unique Name values. I can get the unique Name tables exported (with my fields), but the problem is the insert cursor is adding the last Name value (alphabetically) and its rows into each of these tables. So I end up with the same rows in each table, but the right names of tables. #not all the code, but the relevant stuff.
def unique_values(table, field):
with arcpy.da.SearchCursor(table,[field]) as scursor:
return sorted({row[0] for row in scursor})
uName = unique_values(workspace+outname, "Name")
for uNameSplit in uName:
uNameSplit.split(",")
query = "Name = '{0}'".format(uNameSplit)
for uNames in uName:
uNames = dbas.replace(" ","")
uNames = dbas.replace(",","")
uNames = dbas.replace(".","")
with arcpy.da.SearchCursor(workspace+outname, fields, query) as scursor:
arcpy.CreateTable_management(workspace, outname+"_Name_"+uNames)
with arcpy.da.InsertCursor(outname+"_Name_"+uNames, fields) as icursor:
for row in scursor:
icursor.insertRow(row) I thought the for loop would work to pass one query at a time, as it does for the table filename variable, but it does not for the search and inset cursor portion. I have tried passing in a list of values, but the where clause takes a string. May be missing something obvious. Thanks for any help!
