On the next iteration, please enhance the Space Time Cube Explorer so that the output multipatch feature class has indexes built on the attributes that are commonly used to filter the cubes, (HS_ZSCORE1, p-value, and bin). This should speed up layer rendering since they tend to symbolize and filter based on those 3 fields. It's just annoying to have to go and build the indexes myself on each run of analysis, so that the results are fast enough to work with in review.

Is there a way to view Socrata data on an ArcGIS Online map? I want to view the Socrata data as a live feed and not have to make a copy of the data on AGOL for it to work. The Socrata data is exposed as a .JSON file. Here is an example dataset: https://data.austintexas.gov/Government/Austin-Animal-Center-Found-Pets-Map/hye6-gvq2 And the example's rest endpoint is: https://data.austintexas.gov/resource/hye6-gvq2.json Was also hoping to do this all through the AGOL interface and not have to use ESRI's javascript API to make this happen. The reason I ask is, Socrata is the City of Austin's open data platform. I'm trying to come up with a means for the general ArcGIS Online users to incorporate datasets they discover on Socrata into the maps they are creating. These users usually have little to no programming experience so something through the AGOL interface is ideal. Thanks for any help you can provide, Andrew

I am having trouble setting up a 3D Scene in ArcGIS Pro. I' am trying to recreate the perspective of a photo that was taken within the 3D scene. I know the real world X, Y, and Z coordinates where the photo was taken from, along with the direction the camera was facing. Now I want to place to viewpoint of the ArcGIS Pro scene to be the same, within 10ft or so. Manually dragging my mouse to rotate the camera around in 3D just isn't working. Anyone know a place where I can type in an X, Y, Z, and camera angle? Thank you,

I'm new to ArcGIS Pro and I'm trying to figure out how to visualize building shadows for just a few building polygons on a city block. I want to see where the shadows from building A fall on the adjacent lot and that adjacent lot's building. I'd also like the building shadow to appear on the aerial photo covering the ground. I don't want to do any crazy shadow volume type analysis. Just want to visualize the shadow at certain times of day and year using Pro's illumination properties. The buildings are just footprints in a feature class that have a height value in an attribute for extrusion. Eventually want to try the same shadow visualization thing with trees.

Move time-enabling of data in ArcGIS Online out of the hands of a data publisher and into the hands of the map publisher. Maybe even a rule that any hosted layer that contains at least one date field will automatically become time enabled. I was frustrated when I tried to add a hosted layer with a date field to an AGOL map and play with temporal app capabilities, only to find out that the layer has to be time-enabled by the person who publishes it first. The date field is right there and I can't utilize it for temporal capabilities in my map/app. In my organization we publish lots of our enterprise feature classes from our internal SDE database to AGOL hosted layers so that map publishers in AGOL have lots of data at their fingertips. Most of those have at least one date field if not several. The SDE admins and data creators don't necessarily know or care what users will do with those date fields so they don't know if it needs to be time-enabled in AGOL. Plus if there are multiple date fields I'm guessing AGOL only allows one per hosted layer to control time. Move this time enabling over the layers within each map definition so various groups in an organization can do more with one hosted feature layer. Thank you.

Does anyone know of a way to move an existing public job query from one container to another? I am building a new workflow for a group in my organization using WMX 10.3.1. I have an existing public query I'd like to use as a template for the new group, but they will have their own query container, plus the existing query needs to be tweaked slightly for the new group. I was able to clone the existing query, and it shows up in the same container. I have tried dragging to a new container, but nothing happens. I also went into the queries properties and didn't see a place to designate which container it belongs to. Thanks for any help you can provide, Andrew Rudin

I've used the following workaround on other PC's for 10.2.2 and maybe 10.3.1, so I'm not sure it will work for 10.4 1. Uninstall ArcGIS Desktop 10.4 2. Install ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 (or whatever version matches the GDBT tool version) 3. Install GDBT (since the ArcGIS desktop version the install wanted is now present, the install can continue) 4. Uninstall ArcGIS 10.1 5. Install ArcGIS Desktop 10.4 6. Open ArcCatalog and the GDBT tab should be there and work....at least for the version state tree which is all I ever use from the tool these days. I don't think anything has every changed in the ArcGIS Desktop software that would actually break the tool, the install just does this check to see if the version matches, and if it doesn't it won't install. -Andrew

Where do OBJECTID values on a feature class in Oracle come from when inserts occur? Is it a sequence somewhere, or does ArcMap scan to find the current maximum ID and do a +1 operation before the insert? In my situation the feature class is versioned and uses ST Geometry. The feature class also has archiving enabled, so does the GDB_ARCHIVE_OID value on the archive table use the same mechanism to create OBJECTID values when records are inserted there when edits are posted to default?

Hello, I'm just getting started with ArcGIS Pro. I wanted to add some of the popular hosted data on ArcGIS Online to a map to start playing with it, however I can't seem to find a "Add data from ArcGIS Online" type button anywhere in ArcGIS Pro like there was in ArcMap. Am I missing something? I'm logged in with my organization account. As far as an example, I wanted to play with the Landsat 8 data that's hosted out there. Just want to pop open a window, search for the ArcGIS Online layer I want, and then have it added to my Pro map. Thanks for any help you can provide, Andrew

I'm looking at using ESRI's archiving on our SDE for the first time and I was hoping some folks who've worked with it could ask some questions about it. 1) Archiving uses the feature class' OBJECTID field to track historical records for each row in the archive table. When I've done large schema updates in the past, I've extracted the data from SDE to a feature class, deleted the old table, loaded in a new table schema from UML or ArcGIS Diagrammer, and then reloaded the old data. When you do this the objectID's change while the data is reloaded into SDE. If I did this with archiving, then all the OBJECTID's on the base table of the feature class would change and break the link to all the archive table records. -Has anyone dealt with this and built a workaround? or are you forced to do all schema changes with the data in place on the system and within the limits of the ESRI toolbox tools (add field, etc.). We have a unique ID we maintain on each feature class using Oracle sequences, so I'd rather relate the historical records to the base table using that ID since it doesn't change when data moves around, but that is not an option when enabling archiving. 2) Does enabling archiving create a big performance hit? The feature classes I'd be implementing it on contain ~3 million records across 5 tables. I read in the documentation that when archiving is first enabled it copies every row in the base table into the archive table. I'll have to get with my DBA about disk space for all that duplication, but I'm also concerned about archiving slowing down edits with feature classes that are already very large. Thanks for any help you can provide, -Andrew Rudin

Thanks. I haven't used the command line tools since so much is in ArcToolbox now. We are upgrading to 10.3 SDE and desktop client by the end of the year. With the command line tools going away I'm guessing this trick won't be a possibility after that.

Hello, I have been building views in our Oracle database that assist GIS editors with various aspects of their work. After I create a view in Oracle SQL Developer, editors will add it to their ArcMap sessions as needed. The annoying part is whenever they add the view ArcMap pops up a window asking them to pick an unique ID. Often they don't know which field to pick. How can I build views that have the unique ID predefined by me so GIS users don't have to get this window every time? Thank you, Andrew
