@AJ_devaccount No, once you share to ArcGIS Online as a copy through the Collaboration, the two items are independent and you can set the sharing properties of the ArcGIS Online item independently of the sharing in ArcGIS Enterprise.

Hi @AJ_devaccount if I understand the scenario correctly, this would not work. The referenced data would still reside on ArcGIS Enterprise behind the firewall. To access it, the client would need to make a request through the firewall to get the data. In the case of a Distributed Collaboration where a copy is shared, the request will originate with ArcGIS Enterprise behind the firewall and the data sent to ArcGIS Online. You could add the reference to the data to ArcGIS Hub, but the client would not be able to access it. In your case, you would want to share as a copy, and use that copy with ArcGIS Hub (Open Data)

Since the release of ArcGIS Enterprise 10.5.1, distributed collaboration has been a powerful way to connect and integrate your web GIS across a network of participants. Distributed collaboration has made it possible to organize and share content between entities and organizations including departments, other governments, private businesses and more. During the time since the release of distributed collaboration, the implementation of ArcGIS Enterprise “on premises” at customer sites has also grown. And for good reason! Deploying ArcGIS Enterprise at your site gives you complete control over your deployment while providing the core capabilities of organization-wide mapping, analysis, data management, sharing and collaboration. While working with ArcGIS Enterprise customers I have discovered a common misconception regarding the ability of an internal-only ArcGIS Enterprise to collaborate with ArcGIS Online. A common deployment pattern for ArcGIS Enterprise is to not deploy the system as public-facing at your site. The system is deployed for internal customers only. The general public cannot connect to this system over the public Internet and items, services, and data are all behind the organization’s firewall. The misconception is that this internal-only ArcGIS Enterprise cannot sync (send and receive) items such as web maps, apps, and feature layers with ArcGIS Online. It can! In such a scenario, even though ArcGIS Online is considered the host of the collaboration, all communication is initiated by ArcGIS Enterprise from behind your firewall. To enable this, organization firewall rules must be configured to support outbound communication on port 443. A few other technical details include: The following URLs must be whitelisted/reachable by the ArcGIS Enterprise machine: https://ago-item-storage.s3.amazonaws.com https://*.arcgis.com https://*.arcgisonline.com http://*.esri.com https://*.blob.core.windows.net The Portal for ArcGIS service account that runs the Portal for ArcGIS service needs access to the Internet. Once the above requirements are met you may proceed to set up your collaboration. It might seem counterintuitive that your internal ArcGIS Enterprise can sync with ArcGIS Online and even receive items. It is not only possible, but can be a very effective way to extend the reach and use of your web GIS.

OK, got it. If we want to use an ArcGIS Online basemap with our own reference layer then this can not be done, correct (since a tiled map service can't be used to publish a service or create a tpk)? Thanks!

Any suggestions on how to add the two layers (reference layer and base layer in the .info file? Adding them both in with the "name" block makes them individual options. How could they be combined in the file to show one option? I do have a basemap I created in ArcGIS Online but it is saved as a webmap without a service URL. Can the .info file reference a webmap? Or must a tile package be used? Thanks!

Hi Derek. Is it possible to use an operational layer(s) along with a custom basemap? Or would the operational layer need to be cached into the basemap? Thinking about a scenario where surveyors could see where they are, for example in a grid, but also see where the status of a grid changes, like collection there is complete and they can move to another. Thanks!

I've added a point feature service of buildings to both the dispatcher and worker web maps, then configured the web maps to allow locating features both for the feature service and geocoder. In the map viewer I can search by building name and find the location. In the Workforce Manager I search to add an assignment, and am not able to search by the building name. I also don't see that the search box allows the user to choose the geocoder. Should this work? Are there plans to add this functionality? My use case is I would like to dispatch IT staff to various buildings to complete work, and allow the dispatcher to search for the building.

Some of the preparation resources are listed here: http://downloads2.esri.com/campus/downloads/certification/TrainingResources/TrainingResourcesEEAA101.pdf The two e-learning courses listed there are free. The help is also a good source of information. Review the Skills Measured at this site Enterprise Administration Associate 10.1 Certification then review the topics in the help. ArcGIS Help 10.1

See Chris' response in the thread below: Local cached services not displaying below a scale of 1128 in AGOL web map. When creating your tile package, select the service that you want your cache scales to match.

No, enabling the enterprise logins will not break existing accounts. As users sign in/accept invitations using enterprise logins the organization will populate with new user accounts. Keep in mind that all accounts are unique across ArcGIS Online, so you cannot duplicate an org account with one created through the enterprise id login process. If you want to keep using both types of accounts in the org, you can. Or if you like you can change the ownership of items in the org from a built-in account to the new one using the tools in ArcGIS Online. Or you could use a tool like this Esri/ago-tools · GitHub If you have many items to move and group memberships to update. Once items are moved you may disable/delete the first account.

Is this a hosted feature service in ArcGIS Online or is the feature service published to your ArcGIS Server? How are you adding it to the map viewer? Could you please try a different browser to see if you have the same result?
