CIM seems to be the way to go. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not a programmer but I can 'borrow' code with the best of them. I'll be investigating. Anybody who has an example or can point me to good examples will be my hero. Thanks.

I'm in Pro 2.9. I have a bathymetry layer that has multiple lakes. Some lakes are very shallow and some are pretty deep. If I use a color ramp to symbolize using unique values (2 columns, watername and depth), the deep lakes symbolize spanning the whole color ramp but the shallow ones symbolize only using the first part of the color ramp. I need each individual waterbody to span the color ramp (light blue to dark blue). example: Morris Lake goes from 1 - 80. Leigh Lake goes from 1 - 4. Both are in the same featureclass. If I apply a color ramp (light blue to dark blue) Morris Lake will have a nice gradient, while Leigh Lake will be all light blue. EDIT: We can get around this part by choosing graduated color, geometric interval instead of unique values. My coworker pointed that out (I felt stupid) and it works for what I need in the short term. Each lake won't span the whole color ramp but there should be enough difference between colors/depths for each lake. I want to be able to loop through the layer, for each watername, apply the color ramp, get the values assigned to each depth and write those hex values to a column. This is beyond my programming skill and I'm coming up empty using my usual 'google the heck out of it' method. I can do all this manually, but want a automated fix. I'm willing to use a definition query, symbolize each lake individually, but i'd still like to be able to pull the colors assigned and write them somewhere so I don't have to do this all over again in the future. Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks. MORE EDITS: CIM seems to be the way to go. Thanks for that suggestion. Let's just say I had 80 featureclasses that all had the same color ramp applied using UNIQUE VALUES. All those lakes would span from light blue to dark blue. I want to be able to pull the color assigned in the fc for each value and write it to a column.

ESRI ESRI ESRI......anybody listening? Field maps needs the ability to draw a polygon freehand with a finger. We can't use it otherwise. You can do it with markup which does me no good.......need to be able to add irregularly shaped features in the field quickly.........

I got all excited that I would be able to deploy a new workflow using field maps......but when I showed the prototype to a coworker, he balked at having to add vertices one by one. This is absolutely not the right direction. A field worker needs to be able to draw on screen with their finger and move on. Too many clicks makes field workers less cooperative. CAN ESRI PLEASE WEIGH IN?

I read a post from 2016 asking whether the synchronize map locations option within tabbed story maps works with links to web pages (web apps, as opposed to web maps). In 2016, the answer was that function only works with web maps. Are there plans to have the functionality work with web apps? Leigh Lager NJDEP

Right now, as far as I can tell, there are only 3 shapes that can be customized for AGO. A lot of the ago symbology is nifty looking but not right for certain applications. I don’t need a custom picture for everything either. It seems they took away some much needed functionality…..please bring back the ability to customize basic symbols......seems like a no-brainer.

I want to be able to publish a map service from desktop but I don't want to waste a lot of time picking symbols that will cause problems in AGOL. Does anyone have a symbol set of AGOL symbols?

I'm trying to take an in-house DEM in GRID format and ultimately put it into SKETCHUP. I've tried everything I can think of to no avail. Could someone please tell me, in detail, how to do it? I've tried grid to tin to mulipatch to collada. I've tried contours to 3d polyline to cad. I can't get anything to work. The only thing that worked ok is pulling an old sdts file and putting it in 3dem then exporting to usgs dem ascii format then importing it into Sketchup. I just can't get it to work for a DEM I have (not from USGS). Please advise. Thanks. Leigh
