Hi everybody, I will start off with I know how to create a customized color ramp in ArcMap 10. My question is what colors do people like to use. My manager is not a fan of the ESRI color ramp selections and would like something that isn't hard on the eyes. I create several heat maps showing population by zip code so I will use between 8-10 colors. I am also interested in knowing what colors other users use, what colors they like to use and what colors they don't like and would never use on a map. Thanks, Matt

Hi Jason, One more question. My coworker wanted to know this for the business analyst update. "Will the version stay the same as well? Will it stay "C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Desktop10.0\Business Analyst\bin\ACoder.exe", or will it change to a different version. I see where it was confirmed that the location didn't change but was there also a verification that the version won't change?" Thanks, Matt

Its been awhile since I last posted in here. One of my co workers was able to link address coder 10 and SQL Server together to where the process runs automatically every night. It was a success, it just took us awhile to get things figured out. Thanks for all of your help.

Hi guys, We have currently started using Address Coder 10 for geocoding addresses. We are due to get a flash drive with the updated business analyst data that includes the 2010 census data. We were able to link SQL Server to Address Coder 10. Our question is we currently have the Address Coder set off to go nightly using the following: "C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Desktop10.0\Business Analyst\bin\ACoder.exe" Will we need to change that folder to Desktop 10.0.1 or will it remain 10.0 with the business analyst update? Thanks

I have started to use Address Coder 10 as one of my primary sources of geocoding addresses. I have been able to use Address Coder with Microsoft Access. I have tried to use Address Coder with SQL server and I do not have any luck with it. It seems that the only way I can get Address Coder to work is using Microsoft Access. I haven't seen a whole lot of blogs or posts about anyone using Address Coder 10. I am curious to see if anyone else on the forums has used Address Coder and what they have thought about it and how successful they are with Address Coder.

Does ESRI offer census blocks as a shapefile or do you need to download census block shapefiles from the census website? If so does ESRI also provide data in the attribute table for census blocks like it provides data for the counties, zip codes, census tracts and block groups?

The attribute tables are pretty tough to view and find. Trying going to Analysis wizard and use the Append Data tool as it has a tree view of all the 2000+ variables for the Premium version as well as a filter tool that should make it easy to verify if you are missing variables. If you confirm that you are missing variables I would advise contacting ESRI Customer Service and requestion a new premium .sdlic data license be emailed to you so you can reinstall the data license. If that still doesn't help I would log an incident with technical support. That worked. Thank you for your help.

Hi Jason, I found out that I did have the premium ArcGIS analyst. However my question involves the attached link in the above post. The excel sheet lists the fields that appear in the standard version and the premium version. In my copy of ArcGIS I have all of the Categories except for the following: Alcoholic Beverages Apparel Dining Out Education Entertainment/Recreation Financial, Food at Home Health Care Household Goods Household Services Housing Life Insurance/Pensions/ Miscellaneous Expenses Personal Care Total Expenditures and Retail Goods Transportation (Local) Travel, Automobiles & Automotive Products Baby Products Toys & Games Clothing & Accessories Electronics & Internet Financial & Insurance Grocery & Alcoholic Beverages Health & Beauty Home Improvement Lawn & Garden Household Goods Furniture & Appliances Media Use: Read, Watch or Listen Pets & Pet Products Phones & Yellow Pages Political Ideology & Activism Restaurants Shopping & Ordering Sports, Leisure & Travel I thought these categories were available through the premium license. How do I get these categories? Thanks, Matt
