Yes. None of them work but I think I figured out the cause (but not the solution). I have a feature service layer and when that widget is open for editing the popups don't work. But I need my users to see the information in the pop ups to edit the attributes of the points they are creating. Any suggestions?

Edited for HORRIBLE spelling Edited to put in the correct place I'm working on a FlexViewer application (3.6) For some reason, after about 4 days of working on it I'm not getting any response from my pop ups. I've re-published my services, tried new applications with the same features and nothing happen Here's the config file I made for a quick and dirty example I made just to test if it was application-specific and it's not. I'm probably missing something obvious, an extra set of eyes would be welcome. Thanks in advance <?xml version="1.0" ?> <configuration> <title>Flood Plain Inquiries</title> <logo>assets/images/logo.png</logo> <style> <colors>0x444444,0xebf4ff,0xebf4ff,0xdeebff,0x444444</colors> <alpha>0.78</alpha> <font name="Verdana"/> <titlefont name="Verdana"/> <subtitlefont name="Verdana"/> </style> <!-- replace the following url with your own geometryservice --> <geometryservice url="http://tasks.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Geometry/GeometryServer"/> <widget url="widgets/Navigation/NavigationWidget.swf" config="widgets/Navigation/NavigationWidget.xml" left="10" top="50"/> <widget url="widgets/OverviewMap/OverviewMapWidget.swf" config="widgets/OverviewMap/OverviewMapWidget.xml" right="0" bottom="0"/> <widget url="widgets/MapSwitcher/MapSwitcherWidget.swf" config="widgets/MapSwitcher/MapSwitcherWidget.xml" right="20" top="55"/> <widget url="widgets/HeaderController/HeaderControllerWidget.swf" config="widgets/HeaderController/HeaderControllerWidget.xml" left="0" top="0"/> <map attributionvisible="true" esrilogovisible="true" openhandcursorvisible="false" scalebarvisible="true" scalebar="default" zoomslidervisible="false" wraparound180="true" addarcgisbasemaps="true" initialextent="-8149033.957970165 5036813.399624566 -8115573.648838375 5054279.260587705" wkid="102100" top="40" portalurl="https://www.arcgis.com/"> <basemaps> <layer type="tiled" label="Topographic" icon="https://www.arcgis.com/sharing/rest/content/items/6e03e8c26aad4b9c92a87c1063ddb0e3/info/thumbnail/topo_map_2.jpg" url="http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Topo_Map/MapServer" visible="true"/> </basemaps> <operationallayers> <layer type="feature" label="Parcels" url="http://mgis:6080/arcgis/rest/services/Basemap/MapServer/4" popupconfig="popups/PopUp_2.xml" mode="onDemand" visible="true"/> <layer type="feature" label="Buildings" url="http://mgis:6080/arcgis/rest/services/Basemap/MapServer/2" popupconfig="popups/PopUp_3.xml" mode="onDemand" visible="true"/> <layer type="feature" label="Calls" url="http://mgis:6080/arcgis/rest/services/Projects/Flood_info_calls/FeatureServer/0" popupconfig="popups/PopUp_1.xml" mode="onDemand" visible="true"/> </operationallayers> </map> <widgetcontainer layout="float"> <widget url="widgets/Draw/DrawWidget.swf" config="widgets/Draw/DrawWidget.xml" label="Draw" icon="assets/images/i_draw2.png"/> <widget url="widgets/Print/PrintWidget.swf" config="widgets/Print/PrintWidget.xml" label="Print" icon="assets/images/i_print.png"/> <widget url="widgets/Edit/EditWidget.swf" config="widgets/Edit/EditWidget_1.xml" label="Information Request" icon="assets/images/i_edit.png" preload="open"/> <widget url="widgets/Search/SearchWidget.swf" config="widgets/Search/SearchWidget_1.xml" label="Search by Address" icon="assets/images/i_search.png" preload="open"/> <widget url="widgets/LayerList/LayerListWidget.swf" config="widgets/LayerList/LayerListWidget_1.xml" label="Layer List" icon="assets/images/i_layers.png"/> </widgetcontainer> </configuration>

Shaun, Another issue you will see when it comes to trying to define a popup is that if you don't specify a mapservice that has more than one layer than you can not even get to the sublayer dialog to even attempt to configure a popup. Hold on just a minute. Is this why I can't my popup to work?!! I have been going crazy making a popup. I've tried a million things a million different ways. I boiled it down to one field as I have to constantly test and re-test:
<?xml version="1.0" ?> <configuration> <fields> <field name="S_MAP" visible="true"/> </fields> </configuration>
And this is my updated configuration file. I've tried and tried and tried to get this to work and I get nothing. So by adding a second feature to my service this should work...but it still doesn't. I'm so frustrated. <layer label="Mains" type="dynamic" visible="true" sublayer="1" popupconfig="popups/PopUp_Mains.xml" url="http://mgis/MilfordArcGIS/rest/services/Flex/Mains/MapServer"/>

I too found out that virtual directory was not created in IIS for my arcgisoutput directory. Soon as I made that virtual directory in IIS and made sure the permissions would allow for web access, and it worked! One thing to note is that my virtual directory is called "arcgisoutput", is pathed to"c:\arcgisserver\arcgisoutput", and it appears as www.fishcda.com/arcgisoutput, however if you look at the actual link that is supplied by rest it looks like the links above (e.g. http://www.fishcda.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/SampleEdit/FeatureServer/3/411/attachments/2). This may lead some to believe that you need to have this crazy long path/nested virtual directories all set up (at least that is what I thought at first look). Apparently, through the magic of ArcGIS Server it translates all this and points the file back to the simple location such as www.fishcda.com\arcgisoutput. Hope that helps someone, THIS WORKED!!!! Whooo hooo!!! I can't tell you how FREAKING RELIEVED I am 🙂

For my <description>, I just use one long line of code with <br> tags between each new line This is a quick workaround. Thanks After banging my head for some time now this workaround has fixed my issue! Many many thanks!

I have a layer of census tracts for my town. In each tract there are about a dozen different income levels. Is there a way to give users control over how the census tracts are symbolized or do I create a bunch of different services for each possible scenario?

Hey all, Can you post a link to your flex site? Ours is still in development and I'm always looking for inspiration and ideas. I know there's an esri page of examples but I'd like to see more. Thanks!

You need to convert your annotation to geodatabase annotation. It should carry your placement over.

Use this tool to help get your location information: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/flexviewer/extenthelper/flexviewer_extenthelper.html Then configure your bookmark xml file to look like this:<configuration> <bookmarks> <bookmark name="City Hall and Parson's Complex"> -8133700 5045180 -8132200 5046025</bookmark><bookmarks> So you call the <bookmarks> Then you name your bookmark and define where it is <bookmark name="City Hall and Parson's Complex"> -8133700 5045180 -8132200 5046025. then you close the tag of the actual bookmark </bookmark> and the total container of bookmarks </bookmarks>You put as many bookmarks as you like between <bookmarks>....</bookmarks>

Melissa, About a year ago, we got a "Web handler/service" from ESRI called "GeoRSSSite" that we used to access data from a SQL table (Fire Truck locations updated every minute). We were able to alter their code to connect to our data. It was a bit of trial and error (as we had no clue what we were doing either), but we got it to work. We really just edited the files directly in a text editor vs having to use VStudio. I have used it over an over for various things - some for creating the XML to generate auto-complete lists. Maybe you can ask someone at ESRI if that is still available and if there are instructions??? Robert is the expert at this, but I can tell you that we got it to work without being an expert by any means. 😄 Carmen I am definitely interested in learning more about how you did this.

Meghan, It is in the Zip file I just checked the download... http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=5d4995ccdb99429185dfd8d8fb2a513e Intranet should not matter, but the hyperlink still needs to be a valid URL Ha! I don't have Adobe installed and I was looking for the icon and not the file extension! My bad. thanks. You're pretty awesome for making all these cool widgets and being so helpful, thanks a lot!

You need to look at the example SearchWidget.xml file and read the Enhanced Search Widget XML Configuration.pdf... Where would I find this pdf? It wasn't in the .zip file. While I'm asking, does it make a difference if my site is for intranet use only at this point? Thanks!

I have a .SID of my entire town that will not display in 10. I changed registry settings, changed the name of the file, moved the file, stripped out all extra .aux and pictometry files and got nothing. Other SIDs will display, this one wont. So I took my tiles and put them in a new file geodatabase. EVERY file that ended in _ne.tif (each tile has a directional suffix _se, _sw, _ne, _nw) would not import into the new database, I had to rename them individually. Very, very strange. Then I imported all my tiles into a new file geodatabase and WOW, the color is so much more brilliant than the SID used to be! But that file geodatabase of rasters is 10G*, which is huge - even though it renders fast as lightning that's a lot to throw on a laptop for our field crew. So I made mosaic which is 672 kb, yet there is a haze over the mosaic which I now realize was is the same as the SID. I have attached jpeg files to illustrate the difference. I would like to know why the color is so much more hazy in the mosaic/sid. I'm aware there's a huge level of compression in the file, 10G to 672kb is an enormous difference, but is there a way to reach a middle ground where I preserve some of the brilliance in exchange for a smaller file size? *I tried multiple raster file types for my file geodatabse, I used the LZ77 compression which saved me a gig of space versus not compressing them at all. Any further efforts in compressing or compacting the geodatabase not given any results in decreasing file size

I'm having the same issue. I had a raster catalog which I deleted. I have used a script to populate a "Raster" column to an external source of tifs. My file geodatabase was 27.5 G before I compacted it and its still 21.16. This is way too large. What other options do I have? Is it because I mapped a path to a raster for 6,000 features? Though that doesn't seem logical as the rasters are external to the database. Any help would appreciated before I have to can all this work.
