Flex API Calendar Instead of Time Slider

I have a map service, which is time enabled and I would like to build some flex code, so that users can query this map service by changing the day on a calendar as opposed to using the out of the box time slider. Just wondering if anyone has done this before and how hard it would be to do?

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to build a Time Slider on a similar approach, wherein I want to customize the Time Slider in Flex API. When i select the date range and play the Time slider it should work.

I have little idea of how to proceed about it  but if someone can share their tips it will be beneficial for me. e.g. When I select the date range how it will query my map service and how the time stops can be created so that my time enabled layer recognizes it and works.
