There should be an option to export the whole configuration of ArcGIS Monitor like it’s implemented in the old Monitor with the .cpj-export.

Maybe it’s possible to extend the admin utility tools for an export function.

That would be a great way to easily reconfigure an ArcGIS Monitor deployment after moving to another server.

Hi Marcel

I believe a PG backup/restore would accomplish the same thing - would that be a worthily approach, or are there additional features a standalone export could benefit from?

Hello Evan,

thank you for your suggestion.

In principle, I think that could be an option. However, it doesn't quite convince me yet. My assessment:

Advantages:
- In case of a server move, you could even take the data with you. Again with advantages and disadvantages (1000 GB of old data, which you might not want anymore).

Disadvantage:
- For a pg dump/restore you need further knowledge about PostgreSQL.
- In this case the settings are important. If you only want to export these, you have to know which tables you have to dump. Are these known? Is it possible at all or are the tables so far in relation with each other that only the settings cannot be exported.
- It is possible, like in our case, that you are not the admin of the DB. I.e. we have to ask a third party to do the dumps and restores and you can't do it yourself.

This option would be very interesting to get rid of old data. At the same time there is an advantage of a central file for easy administration and bug fixing.

Basically I find it very sad that some of the functionalities from the old monitor are no longer available and can only be implemented via a workaround as in this case.
There a piece of comfort for the user is lost to me.
