I have a layer of 14 points connected to each other through 20 lines. I want to highlight those points which have more connected lines. Is there any tool in ArcGIS for that.
Thanks
You may want to right click on your point layer, select Join and Relates,
and then Spatial Join. Your target features will be the point
file and *join
features* your lines. The Join operation will be One to many. Match
operation will be intersect.
The output should give you a new point layer containing a field* Join_count*
which is a count of the number of lines intersecting the points.
Thanks Mervyan, you meant 'one to one' and it gave me what I wanted. Thanks
Mervyan, how can I select a point with their connected lines and the corresponding other point ends.
I mean I want to select, let's say, point #1 and automatically it selects all lines connected to this point and the other ends of the lines which are points.
Thnaks in advane
You want to try *Select by Location. *Select all lines that intersect
certain points, then try and run it again but this time select the points
that intersect your selection of lines
Mervyan, your answers were useful to me. I did that manually, but now I want to use model builder to run it for any input I want but I could not save the output, gives me empty. Any idea?
Hi Ismaeel
I attach an image of a model that works for me. I used towns as points and roads as lines.
Thank you Mervyan, ok but where is the destination location for saving the result of all precessing? I used 'copy feature' after the final step but did not work.
I am saving to a file geodatabase. Could you replicate the model?
Thank you Bervyan. I am done with it taking your notes. Please, whenever you have some time, kindly comment on my questions in other posts. Regards..
