Multiple mobile map packages versus One?

Is it better to have multiple mobile map packages or a singular package? By better, I mean for performance and for file size. Is the performance any better with multiple map packages instead of one, and is the file size any smaller (ie. one map package could be 500MB, but multiple could have a sum less than 500MB somehow?).

For my use case, the area of the map isnt large (just one City), but I am wondering if it is best to have the map of that city (with the layers) in one map package, or to span iot across multiple for performance / file size reasons (or perhaps other reasons that I have not thought of).

Hi Mike. It should always be more efficient to have just one package.

You didn't mention this use case, but mobile map packages created in ArcGIS Pro can include multiple maps that can share data. Separate MMPKs would duplicate this.

One map with at most a few layers is enough. That answers my question, thanks!
