Deleting Feature Classes from File Geodatabases

I cannot delete unwanted feature classes from my file geodatabase using ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced 10.1.  No one else is accessing the data and I get error messages saying I cannot delete.  Does it have something to do with the lock files?  Please help.

Yes, I am able to create new feature classes, edit the data and import and export into the GDB.  It just won't let me delete anything.

I'm having the same problem. I misspelled a column name when importing a new feature class and because the column heading was wrong the relevant data did not get imported to the table. I can't rename the column heading or delete the feature class to start again.

Any ideas?
