Recommended GeoPortal version for Intranet usage

What is the recommended version to install if we wanted to have a disconnected configuration behind the firewall (i.e. no Internet connection  Intranet server)? This configuration will have connection to ArcGIS Portal and Enterprise SDE but not the Internet.  Also we wanted to use ArcGIS portal for authentication.

We are running 10.7 confederated Portal and would also like to use Geoportal to catalog our Enterprise SDE metadata. 

The documentation in the URL below still points to 1.x while the Github version is running 2.x

Geoportal Server 2.6.5 is the right version for you.

Geoportal Server 1.x has not seen development in several years and we recommend not using it for new deployments. We will address this also on the website page you referenced.
