I am doing a Points of Interest Search by NAICS code. The query returns saying that it has reached the 5,000 count record limit. Is there a way to identify how many total records are included in the query? Ultimately the search is for all employment establishments within the County.

Hello,

Thank you for the insightful question.  As you are aware there is a maximum of 5000 results that can be returned per POI search.  This is per our agreement with the data provider.  The current workflow does not identify how many total records are in the query because only the maximum number of 5000 records is returned. The limit works well for focused business searches; however, the limit can be quickly reached when searching for higher level NAICS codes, especially in concentrated business areas.

Our best practices recommendation for the current workflow design is to refine the search criteria and search extent.  For example, narrow your search criteria based on a specific business category, NAICS or SIC Code and focus your search extent area so the limit is not as easily reached.  Depending on the area, you may need to perform additional business searches.  In this case, it might be helpful to refine your search extent in Step 1 of the workflow to a study area, such as predefined smaller geography site or polygon.   You can learn more about the points of interest search in the Business Analyst Help documentation https://doc.arcgis.com/en/business-analyst/web/points-of-interest-search.htm

Thank you for your valuable feedback.  We appreciate hearing from you and your comments help us improve Business Analyst.

Donna
