Just an update on the soils fc in the LGIM . . . as of Nov 20th, 2013, Scott Oppmann said during the "Configuring the ArcGIS for Local Government Information Model" Local Government Meetup, that there is no easy way to do this yet.

Do you need your parcels to be in a Parcel Fabric in order to use the new Deed Drafter application? If not, would this still be of benefit? In other words, could you still use the XML to "seamlessly appended to a local government??s parcel dataset" in a simple parcel model? Thanks, Leitha

Scott, Thanks for your response. My road data is heavy in Minor Arterial and Collector designations and the Fire Map's symbology makes a big difference. I don't understand your statement that the map's symbology "does not imply a hierarchy". Clearly the map symbology does in fact imply this: But it does not reflect the same hierarchy as is implied in the LG Data Dictionary. If I can read between the lines in your response, I think you are saying that the Local Gov Model, following the FHWA, sets "Collectors" lower than both "Major and Minor Arterial". If this is the case, then I will adjust the symbology in the Fire Map to reflect this and will not make changes to my data. If I am correct, perhaps the Fire Map could be updated with symbology that is more reflective of the underlying data structure? Just a heads up for anyone using this map template. Cheers, Leitha

In loading my data into the LGIM I used the data dictionary to help me determine the Road Classes (converting from MTFCC, CFCC and ODOT FCC). In the dictionary it seems that the LGIM 'Collector' designation is lower than both 'Arterials' so that is what I went by. Most of the Local Gov Map templates I have used previously, lump Major and Minor Arterial and Collector all together in similar symbology, so I have not noticed any problems. However, in the Fire Station Wall map the symbolism has this order (see Road Centerlines_9K): Freeway Highway Major Arterial Collector Minor Arterial Local, etc. And the difference in Collector and Minor Arterial shows up very distinctly in the map. So now I either need to reassign my road segments to different domains or change the Fire Station map symbology. But I want to know which hierarchy is correct since it will be used in future LGIM templates and I only want to correct this once. The Local Gov data dictionary has the classes listed in this order: Freeway Highway Major Arterial Minor Arterial Collector Local, etc. Thanks for any advice, Leitha

Thanks, Scott, that helps. And can you consider posting the newer LGM data dictionary (10.1 ver) online or maybe within the new online help section? If it's there already, I missed it. It's just very handy to have a link to this dictionary so that when it gets updated you know right away and can see the changes, date, etc without going to the trouble of downloading anything. Leitha

I also meant to ask: I know of the older data dictionary at http://help.arcgis.com/en/localgovernment/datadictionary.html which has a date of June 28th. Is there an updated one for ver 10.1 LG Model? I can't seem to find a link anywhere, so I'm assuming that there were no changes. Thanks again, Leitha

The release notes for the 10.1 version just says "7/12 - First release of Local Government Information Model for ArcGIS 10.1." Has there been any changes since the last version created for 10? If not, is there any reason to download this newest version if we are still using 10? Also - a few questions specifically about the SiteAddressPoint feature class (from ver 10): Field "FULLADDR" - what is meant by "address information combined into one text field" in the description? Only street plus apt numbers combined? Or those plus road info? or all those plus city and state or zip? Can you update the description to be a bit more helpful as in the field description for "FULLNAME" which makes much more sense? Field "UNITID" - Does only the address unit number go here? And if you have a "UNITTYPE" of "REAR" or "LOWER" which are both domains what then goes into this UNITID field? Would I repeat "REAR" or "LOWER" again? Thanks for any light you can shed, Leitha

I downloaded the newest Value Analysis Dashboard application today and noticed the 2 basemaps are now titled ParcelPublicAccessMI and TaxParcelMI and the GDB is called LocalGovernmentMI. What is the differences between these and the older titled mxd's and gdb? Can I use my older services within this Application or do I need to republish them? I looked for documentation or an explanation, but could not find anything except that this is an updated application. What does the MI stand for? Thanks, Leitha

Yes, there is still a main configuration file with the same structure and syntax. For your case, I would recommend installing the application builder and create a new application (for example "mynewapp") using application builder. Then close application builder, and manually move your customized configuration files from your 2.4 location, c:\inetpub\wwwroot\flexviewer (if you were using the default) to the new location, c:\inetpub\wwwroot\flexviewers\mynewapp (the default when using IIS). You should then be able to open application builder and see your 2.5 application based on the updated config.xml. Bjorn, Will the above instructions work with versions earlier than 2.4? If not, what are the exceptions to this? Thanks, Leitha

I'm having nearly the same problem as above only with the Election Polling Places App. Everything comes up fine (right extent, base map shows, my own polling locations show, etc) but when I enter an address it zooms to the correct address, highlights the precinct, but then just stays there with a swirling icon and "finding precinct" message (even though the right precinct is now highlighted in the map). One note: In step 3 (defining the Application Pool) ESRI support walked me through this and because I have version 6 of IIS Manager, I needed to right click on the directory and go to "properties" then click on the "create" button, then OK. Nothing was said about the drop down Application Pool menu so it is still on DefaultAppPool instead of either of the other choices (ArcGISApplicationAppPool or ArcGISServicesAppPool). Do you think this could be the problem? Thanks for any help you can give, Leitha

We have new oblique imagery and software for viewing it. I would like to modify my current Flex Viewer Application (based on Viewer for Flex 2) with a widget(s) that could help with the tasks below. I have done some configuration, but am still very new to this. Mapping Application Tasks 1. Modifications need to be made to your mapping application so that the user can launch the Viewer by clicking on the map, clicking on a button, or some other method. Programmer will need to know how to get the current location in Latitude and Longitude in decimal degrees to launch the Viewer. This may involve a conversion from the native coordinate projection system being used in the mapping application into Latitude, Longitude decimal degrees. Once you have the coordinate of the point you wish to see in the Viewer, launching the viewer requires only 1 or 2 lines of Javascript. This step is required. 2. In order to have an icon placed on the map indicating the current position of the Viewer, additional Javascript needs to be written by the mapping application programmer. Functions need to be added to the mapping application that can be called by the Viewer whenever the location of the Viewer changes. The new location and view direction will be passed back to the mapping application via callbacks from Javascript executing in the Viewer. The location passed back will be in Latitude, Longitude decimal degrees, and may need to be converted into a different coordinate projection system used by the mapping application. This step is optional. Getting this callback function working is not required in order to see pictures using the Viewer, but provides a visual aid to improve the end-user experience. Can anyone recommend where to begin, what widget(s) to use and what modifications I would need to accomplish this?? I think I just need to get pointed in the right direction. Thanks in advance for any help you can give! Leitha

Hi Daniel, But yes a select by Graphic option like ArcGIS would be good. I will see about adding one. (I am also happy to include contributions and enhancements from others.) Mark, I am also very interested in your Selection widget if it would have a graphics option included. I am first selecting catchment basins and these do not have a readily recognized name field so a graphics selection is necessary. Do you have any idea when you might get to this? Or is it possible to select polygons using the standard search widget and then use your Selection widget to query other layers with these selected polygons from the first graphic selection? Thought I'd ask before I tried it. Still - thanks for a great widget!!

The 'Extent Helper' helps you get the extents for bookmarks and also the Initial Extent. But how can you use this to change the Full Extents in the new Navigator Widget? I couldn't find a "full extent" to replace in the main config file or within the widget. The Flex Viewer also did not read the extents of my operational layer for this. Please help!
