What if I want to label features that are exposed for editing? The IDs for the newly created features are auto generated at the database level and not entered by the user. So, I need them to be displayed on saving the new feature. Is there any way to do it? Thanks, Bharathi

We have a set of users with read-only access and two other users with edit access to the Geodatabase running in Oracle 11g. The users are unable to select more than 100 features or 2 sets of features. The error pops up saying "Unable to create logfile system tables error. User perhaps lacks permissions or resources to create tables ORA01031". The edit users are able to perform the operation. Searching through the forums led me to the log file settings. First tried to set up as per "Shared log files" settings, the error still persists. The current sde_config settings is attached. In the user1 (read only access) schema, i could see 2 tables - sde_logfiles & sde_logfile_data. Next, i attempted with the option of Pools of log files owned by the ArcSDE administrator too but to no avail. Could someone point me in the right direction and suggest which is the best possible log file setting for this situation? (Me not being a DBA, bear with me if it sounds silly) Bharathi

Thanks Ivan! The way I was populating the array was the root cause of the error. Thanks once again for the help. Bharathi.

In my app, there is a requirement to let the user add features using xy coordinate pairs as input. I have been able to get the user XY input and generate a MapPoint & update it to SDE. However, when it comes to polyline or polygon, the user inputs have been updated to an array of mappoints. But from that array I am unable to generate graphics or create a feature which could be updated in SDE. This is the code switch(selectedFeatureLayer.layerDetails.geometryType) { case Geometry.POLYLINE: { Alert.show(myPointArray.toString(), myPointArray.length.toString()); pline = new Polyline([myPointArray]); var myGraphicLine:Graphic = new Graphic; myGraphicLine.geometry = pline; myGraphicLine.symbol = new SimpleLineSymbol(SimpleLineSymbol.STYLE_DASHDOT,0x0000FF, 0.6,2); myGraphicsLayer.add(myGraphicLine); selectedFeatureLayer.applyEdits([myGraphicLine], null , null); break; } case Geometry.POLYGON: { // Get the points array and add the first point at the end of the array to make a polygon var onePointArray:Array = new Array; onePointArray=myPointArray[0]; myPointArray.push([onePointArray]); // Create polygon graphic poly = new Polygon([[myPointArray]]); myGraphicPoly.geometry = poly; myGraphicPoly.symbol = new SimpleFillSymbol(SimpleFillSymbol.STYLE_SOLID,0x00FF00, 0.7); myGraphicsLayer.add(myGraphicPoly); selectedFeatureLayer.applyEdits([myGraphicPoly], null , null); myPointArray = new Array; finishAdd.enabled = false; break; } default: { break; } } The user entered coordinates are stored in myPointArray. Trace shows that the pline / poly is not getting generated. How do I go about this? Whats the mistake?

tereshenkov, If I understand correctly, you are trying to add more map services to your operational / base map layers. You just need to add more tags of operationallayers / Baselayers for that like - <operationallayers> <layer label="LBHC" type="dynamic" visible="true" url="http://arcgisserver/ArcGIS/rest/services/FirstMapservice/MapServer"/> </operationallayers> <operationallayers> <layer label="LBHC" type="dynamic" visible="true" url="http://arcgisserver/ArcGIS/rest/services/SecondMapservice/MapServer"/> </operationallayers> Hope it helps.

I want to take user input of x,y & name and append the point to SDE feature layer as part of the tool. I am also facing a similar problem. Did you happen to work around the issue? Bharathi

Hi all, Sorry for cross posting here. But I am desperately looking for a solution to my problem posted in the forums earlier. http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/39350-Strange-behaviour-in-layers-involved-in-Editing Anyone else facing similar issues? Any clues would be greatly appreciated. Bharathi

I have a couple of feature classes with archive enabled. I would like to use the archive data for showing the progressive changes in the web application. Seems simple. However when I tried to use the service with the archive data as time enabled layer, nothing shows up in the application window. Does this mean archive data cannot be used with this or some permission issues? What am I missing? Bharathi

Hi.. I am still facing the first issue although the second issue i had fixed (by restarting the map service and clearing the cache). Wonder if someone else is facing similar issues. Had just posted the screenshots just to show the problem clearly. Would be grateful for any help / leads. Bharathi

Hi all, I had just created a Basic application and wanted to add the Edit functionality. When I configured the Edit Widget then two unexpected things happen: 1. The operational layers defined in config.xml (type = "feature") for editing once added, in the initial screen it does not fit appropriately onto the base map (looks skewed). However once the fit to extent button is clicked, everything falls into place. 2. I have configured 4 layers for editing. Although all the four layers show up in the widget, 3 of them work fine. The fourth one when attempted with edits throws up an error - "Add feature failed". Also only on this layer is the symbology different from what is defined in the mxd of the map service. The symbology defined is a simple fill symbol for that polygon layer. And there is a template defined in mxd. Any clues/ leads appreciated. Thanks, Bharathi

Thanks for pointing out about the units. I just created a simple MapService and introduced it as the first basemap layer. Bingo! It worked. However I would still like to know how do I use only Image services and still have the map scale bar appear properly. Bharathi

Thanks Bjorn for the response. There is no scalebar displayed (only a single vertical line to the left end of the scale bar location)when there is a basemap layer, not a bar without distances. url of the initial layer used is "http://appsrvr/ArcGIS/rest/services/ImageServices/Topo_Images/ImageServer". This has a Spatial Reference: 32640 which is UTM 40N (WGS84). Although the units are not explicitly mentioned, the extents suggest they are in Meters. There is one thing that I hadn't mentioned earlier - There are 3 basemap layers out of which two are put together as a single basemap using the same "name". However when I remove those 2 layers and use only the layer (mentioned above), the scale bar does show up properly. When I introduce back even one of those layers then the Scale bar disappears! Even for that basemap layer the scalebar showed up only when the imageformat was changed from "png" to "png32". Is there any particular imageFormat I should be setting? Suggestions please.. Bharathi.

I have removed all ESRI basemap layers and included our own layers. The maps are showing up properly. But the scalebar does not show up properly (Only the left end vertical line of the scale bar is visible). However when I remove the basemap layers and retain the operational layers, the scale bar is visible and is perfectly fine. In basemaps, I am using image services with imageformat as png. Any clues?? Bharathi
