Hi, In the past I've been able to add a secure service to the Flex Viewer and it would prompt the user to log in. While I've been using tokens and applications secured with IIS recently, I now have a simple app with one secure service and I'd like the credentials to be passed on directly. However, when I add the secure service to my app (version 3.3), I don't get prompted to log in, and just get an error message instead: "Conservation Projects (sensitive) layer failed to load: Fault code: 499 Fault info: Unauthorized access Fault details: " I've tried using the app builder rather than xml, and after logging in I can see the layer, but once I switch to the preview tab I get an error (the same "failed to load" message plus Channel.Security.Error). I'm hosting this app on the same server that is working fine with tokens, and my crossdomain.xml file hasn't changed. I've also tried both a public-facing 10.0 Server instance and a 10.1 Server instance on our intranet with the same result. The xml I'm using in the layers section is just: <operationallayers>
<layer label="Conservation Projects (sensitive)" type="tiled" visible="true" alpha="0.7"
url="https://maps.tnc.org/ecadpubprodanon/rest/services/TNC_internal/conservation_projects_auth_WM/MapServer">
<sublayer id="0" popupconfig="popups/ConservationProjects.xml"/>
<sublayer id="1" popupconfig="popups/ConservationProjects.xml"/>
</layer>
</operationallayers> Can anyone let me know what I'm going wrong? Thanks!

Jon, You simply forgot to change the <floatorfixed>fixed</floatorfixed> to float. That did it, thanks! I'm not sure how I missed that, I must be even more tired than I thought...

Hi, I just upgraded to the FlexViewer 3.1 and installed the new eSearch widget 3.1.6. I'm hoping to use the non-fixed setup (as I have in the past), but I can't get the grid to show up at all. Here's my app using Robert's default config file (which doesn't show the grid either): http://maps.tnc.org/coredata_new/index.html?config=esearch.xml And here's the app pointing to my own data (still no grid): http://maps.tnc.org/coredata_new/ Do I have something configured wrong, or did the widget switch to only working with the fixed setup? thanks, Jon

Our current schedule has it for the end of Q1 2013. Not guaranteed though. Mike Is that target date looking good so far? I have a group of users who don't want to all have an additional account to manage (I know I can create the accounts for them, but they don't want one more password and login to remember). Alternatively, is there a way to generate a medium or long-term token to access AGO secure services? For our secure ArcGIS Server services, we have been generating tokens that last about a year, and securing the entire Flex map directory using IIS that authenticates via active directory. That way all our staff can see the maps, but no one else can, and we don't have to worry about extra accounts. Thanks for any ideas / suggestions, let me know if the second questions should be reposted as a separate topic so that you can get credit for answering it. Jon

I changed the mxd by msd and the edition works perfectly, what I realized is that the URL showing here does not lead me nowhere I get the following error HTTP Status 405 - HTTP method GET is not supported by this URL 😞 Help me please You will need to work with your system administrator for the server who should know how to change the URL to a fully qualified domain name. As others have noted simply using the machine name or IP (as you have it set up) will not work. I'm not a server admin myself so I don't know the details of how mine made the change. Jon

Thanks Mike! In other platforms (e.g. Flex) it works OK; it just ignores the null records (sadly our data is badly in need of cleanup but it needs to be done by knowledgeable staff state by state so it's an arduous process) and shows the records that DO have time info. Good to know that ArcGIS Online has higher standards. This map service is cached anyway, but we use the same msd for a dynamic map service in other applications. I'll just make a new mxd without the time feature for the cached service. Jon

Unfortunately I believe the only way to do this is either: 1. Download the source code and modify the tolerance there or 2. Use Robert Scheitlin's Identify widget instead of the default pop-up feature: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=39cf66d58c234279ba728c50461a1a89 Jon

Hello, I recently noticed that popups aren't working for one of my map services when viewed in the arcgis.com map viewer. When I click on a feature I get a "No information available" error instead of the popup info. The map service is http://maps.tnc.org/ecadpubprodanon/rest/services/tnc_lands_anon_WM/MapServer and the popups for the map service work in ArcMap and a Flex map I have. Popups on other map services in the same server directory also work fine (e.g. http://maps.tnc.org/ecadpubprodanon/rest/services/portfolio_anon_WM/MapServer). This is one of my organization's three major data layers so it's a big inconvenience. Any ideas what could be going on? Jon

We still have this problem as well. Back in April Mike indicated to me (offline) that in my case the problem was that our ArcGIS Server certificate was from Network Solutions, which arcgis.com has trouble with. There was a fix planned for either July or October depending on how things went. Now when I try to add a secure map service, after logging in I get an error message that says "Unable to access the authentication service." I'm not sure if the same underlying certificate problem applies or if there's something new going on. Jon

Thanks Mike, I am the admin but hadn't realized "move to" would work to change owners. It's a bit odd to me that for content I DON'T own I get a separate "change owner" button in addition to "move to" button. I'm attaching two screenshots, one showing my own content: one showing someone else's content: But it sounds like despite the different buttons "move to" should work the same way as "change owner".

Is "serverhostingapp" the same as your ArcGIS Server machine? If so, a good test would be to go to your REST page, get a token (e.g. for us "https://maps.tnc.org" is the machine hosting both AGS and our web apps, so that's the referrer), then paste into the browser the full URL for your secured service, e.g.: https://maps.tnc.org/ecadpubprodanon/rest/services/TNC_internal/portfolio_auth_WM/MapServer?token=yourtokengoeshere (note that's the actual URL of one of my secured services, so obviously it won't work without a valid token). If your AGS machine and app server are different, you can still try this step and just put the AGS machine's URL as the referrer to make sure the first step (of generating a token) is working properly. If that works, maybe post your config.xml file with the tokens scratched out, or secure a service that only has public data so that you can post the actual URL that should work here.

I'm having the same problem (when I add a secure map service from ArcGIS Server, it won't accept my credentials). This used to work for me, so I'm wondering if some of the recent changes in AGO may have broken the functionality? We're running ArcGIS Server 10.01. While setting up a token and then securing the resulting web map works, the downside for me is that our secure services let users authenticate against our active directory (meaning that any staff member of my organization can view the map after logging in), whereas a secure AGO map requires everyone who needs access to it to create an account with arcgis.com and be granted access to that specific map. For an organization of over 3,000 people, it is much preferable to use our own security and have AGO just pass the credentials on rather than requiring everyone to use AGO accounts. I should also note that I have no problem connecting to our secure services via ArcMap.

I posted this after verifying that I couldn't transfer the ownership of my own web maps, but I now see that I CAN transfer the ownership of other web maps in my organization that I DON'T own! That seems very odd. I'm glad to be able to transfer ownership for others, but I'm puzzled why I can't do the same for my own web maps...

Hello, Is it possible to transfer ownership of a web map I have created in arcgis.com to another user, or give others edit access to it? For example, if I want to set up a web map for someone unfamiliar with arcgis.com, but let them make tweaks going forward is there any way to accomplish that without sharing passwords / accounts? On a related note, is it possible to have more than one person able to administer a group? We have some groups where one person created it but they want to let someone else be able to share the responsibility of inviting / accepting new members. thanks for any help you can provide, Jon
